Russell Library Online Catalogue
A major online cataloguing project is underway in the Russell Library, Maynooth. This project, a joint initiative between NUI Maynooth and St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, seeks to publicise the wealth of research material available to scholars. To date, almost 40% of the collection has been catalogued online. Subjects covered include: Art, Bibliography, Church History, Education, English, European Literature, History, Moral Theology, Philosophy, Religion, Sociology and Travel. Work is currently focusing on 1,200 bound volumes of 18th and 19th century pamphlets, covering everything from growing saffron to news of earthquakes. This project is raising the profile of the collection at home and abroad.

Library Publications Festival
The Library hosted its 4th annual Publications Festival from the 25-28 January. A highlight of the academic year, the 2011 festival celebrated the publications of the Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy and St Patrick’s College, Maynooth. The opening day also included the launch if a new research tool, The Irish in Europe Virtual Research Environment (VRE) and RIAN, a database that ensures NUI Maynooth's research is available worldwide and free of charge. The festival was open to the public and the highly successful programme of events included lectures, tours of the Russell Library and a tour of the OPW-NUI Maynooth Archive and Research Centre at Castletown House. The buildings work on the new library at NUI Maynooth is currently underway and on completion will provide a world class library that can embrace new technologies to facilitate all users.
Russell Library Blog
The Russell Library Blog was launched in May 2010. A monthly highlight is chosen from new purchases, projects and items of rare or topical interest with an emphasis on diversity, interest, professionalism and quality images. The Blog offers researchers a window on the collection and feedback has been very positive.
