In December 2008 the Minister for Education announced the construction of major extension to the existing John Paul II Library. This project is a wonderful opportunity to deliver a first class library building that will support the enormous growth in teaching, learning and research activity at NUI Maynooth.

NUI Maynooth has established project management structures to oversee the delivery of the new library building and to liaise with, and gather feedback from, all project stakeholders. The following groups are available to receive comments and feedback about the Library Building Project:

The Library Project Steering Group
The responsibilities of the Library Implementation Group (LIG) include:

  • Oversee the delivery of the project on time and within budget
  • Liaise with the design team
  • Liaise with the architects and construction firm
  • Liaise with St. Patrick’s College
  • Liaise with relevant external agencies (e.g. Kildare County Council)
  • Liaise with the Library Project Consultative Forum

The members of the LIG are:

The Library Project Consultative Forum  
The role of the Library Project Consultative Forum (LPCF) is to: 

  • Coordinate inputs on behalf of various groups of stakeholders to the Library Implementation Group
  • Provide inputs to the project design team at the inception stage
