Visit to Russell Library

A group from M.I. Rudomino All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature,visited the Russell Library recently The group consisted of conservators, librarians and interpreters. Some of the items on display for the visit included a first edition of the New Testament in Russian which was published by the Russian Bible Society in 1823 and Jonas Hanway's 'An historical account of the British trade over the Caspian Sea: with a journal of travels from London through Russia to Persia, and back again through Russia, Germany, and Holland'. Conservation staff at the Russell Library spoke about the range of conservation and preservation activities undertaken in Special Collections, highlighting specific examples using items in the collection.
